Mi-Co Launches New Product at HIMSS Microsoft Event

SAN DIEGO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 16, 2006 --Mi-Co, the mobile data capture software company, launched a new product offering -- Mi-Forms Medical Software Development Kit (MSDK) -- at the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference being held in San Diego, CA.

At the Microsoft reception at the Hotel Solamar, Dr. Greg Clary, Mi-Co Chief Technology Officer, highlighted capabilities of the Mi-Forms Medical SDK that is targeted to software companies focusing on applications designed for healthcare providers. General availability is set for March 1, 2006 with beta packages available now.

The Mi-Forms Software Development Kit is a Microsoft .NET-based SDK for integrating the Mi-Forms world-class handwriting recognition, natural user interface and unified support of a variety of mobile data capture platforms into existing software applications. With the SDK, development teams can add digital ink data capture components to their existing applications (such as Electronic Medical Records systems). The major digital inking devices currently being used by the software developers include Tablet PCs (from over two dozen venders including Gateway, Lenovo, Motion Computing, Fujitsu and HP), signature capture pads (such as those from Interlink Electronics) and Digital Pens (from Logitech and other major pen manufacturers).

The new capabilities in the Mi-Forms Medical SDK include the mapping of data from the Mi-Forms templates to the backend database systems through HL7 protocols, a key data standard used in the healthcare industry. In addition, new capabilities for the development of medical applications requiring handwritten progress notes have been built into the new Medical SDK.
