Mi-Forms Integration With PureEdge Forms Software Provides Pen Perfect Data Capture for Government Applications on Tablet PCs

Version 6 of Mi-Co's Products Includes Mi-Forms Integration Module for IBM Workplace Forms and PureEdge Technology

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 22, 2007 -- Mi-Co, the mobile data capture software company, announced the availability of the Mi-Forms Integration Module to PureEdge/Workplace Forms as part of the Version 6 Mi-Forms product line. This integration module allows PureEdge users to import their form designs directly into the Mi-Forms environment for use with a wide range of mobile data capture devices (including Tablet PCs, Digital Pens and Pocket PCs using Windows Mobile 5). The Mi-Forms technology allows data capture in a mobile environment to be much more efficient.

"This a major milestone of the Mi-Co initiative launched with IBM in April of 2006 to provide state of the art handwriting recognition and mobile solutions to users of PureEdge technology and IBM® Workplace Forms™," stated Greg Clary, CEO of Mi-Co. IBM acquired the forms automation technology of PureEdge Inc. in 2005 and incorporated the products into the Workplace brand of products.

"IBM has done an excellent job of incorporating and rebranding the PureEdge technology into its product offerings. Many users in the government sector continue to refer to the product as PureEdge because of the over 1.4 million DoD users that have licenses for this product," stated Jim Clary, Mi-Co Chairman and Government strategic sales specialist. "And now the Mi-Forms integration with PureEdge allows these users to add mobile forms applications to their solutions. In addition, Mi-Co has partnered with EIM, Inc., the leading supplier of PureEdge, to make Mi-Forms conveniently available to the DoD community."

IBM's acquisition of PureEdge in 2005 highlighted the importance of electronic form applications in business process automation. The technology and market research firm, Forrester Research stated at the time that:

"IBM's acquisition underscores e-forms' role as a core technology for automating business processes and allows IBM Workplace customers to seamlessly integrate e-forms into back-office systems like ERP and CRM...IBM now has a strong e-forms solution that can be leveraged across IBM's collaboration, enterprise content management (ECM), and business process management (BPM) offerings, and is primed to be a strong contender in the growing e-forms market." http://www.forrester.com/Research/Document/Excerpt/0,7211,37693,00.html

IBM Workplace Forms software based on PureEdge technology is currently used by over 5 million end-users, many of these in governmental agencies. Among the organizations using IBM Workplace Forms are US Army and US Air Force, Securities and Exchange Commission, Washington State Department of Health and the Michigan Courts system.

At the time of the IBM acquisition, PureEdge was moving the U.S. Army's inventory of 100,000 forms, used by some 1.4 million people, from a paper-based system to an electronic forms solution. The Army's internal audit committee estimated that the Army would save $1.3 billion per year as a result of these efforts.

Mi-Co signed an agreement with IBM earlier in 2006 that facilitates the seamless integration of Mi-Forms and IBM Workplace Forms software and makes it available to users worldwide. The new Version 6 integration component is a part of the Mi-Forms System for IBM Workplace Forms which solution providers can use to implement Mobile Wizards for IBM Workplace Forms solutions. There are a number of key features in Version 6 and the new integration module shipping to customers:

-- "Data palette" technology that allows the import of PureEdge/IBM Workplace form designs on to a Mi-Forms palette providing a basis for creating mobile solutions within the Mi-Forms Designer environment

-- "Datapath" technology that allows the user to automatically send information collected in Mi-Forms directly into IBM Workplace Forms XML documents

-- Standard business rule implementation allows for applications to build the same business rules and form logic for users on keyboards as well as those collecting data with digital ink on a Tablet PC or other mobile hardware devices.
