Michael Foote, Regulatory Counsel for NWP Services Corporation, to Join Expert Panel at the 2010 National Apartment Association Education Conference

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - June 17, 2010) -  NWP Services Corporation (NWP), the leading provider of financial transaction processing solutions for the multifamily housing industry, today announced that Michael Foote, NWP's Regulatory Counsel, will join an expert panel and educational session titled "State of the Union: Utility Billing Laws, Regulations, Rules and How to Mitigate Risk in Differing Legal/Regulatory Landscapes" at the 2010 National Apartment Association (NAA) Education Conference & Exposition.

The NAA Education Conference & Exposition will be held in the Hilton New Orleans Riverside & Morial Convention Center from June 24-26, 2010. The session will be presented by Michael Foote of NWP and Michael Semko, Senior Counsel and Vice President of the National Apartment Association, on Friday, June 25 at 1pm.

"Detailed and thorough regulatory oversight and advocacy are vital components of a successful utility billing program and proper lease disclosures are an owner or manager's first line of defense in every jurisdiction, whether utility billing is strictly regulated or not," said Michael Foote, Regulatory Counsel for NWP. "Owners and managers must have timely and accurate information to ensure compliance with a shifting regulatory landscape with regard to billing, energy benchmarking and conservation information requirements and legislative initiatives and we commend the NAA for making this key session a part of this year's education conference," Foote added.

Multifamily housing property owners, managers and third-party billing companies must constantly monitor an ever increasingly complex labyrinth of state, county, city and utility district regulations to ensure that they mitigate risk and maximize recovery from utility billing programs. Conference attendees joining this educational session will gain valuable insight and hear leading experts discuss the current state of regulations, how to avoid potential pitfalls involved with utility billing, legislative and regulatory trends, enforcement mechanisms and suggestions on risk mitigation.

NWP is a proud sponsor and supporter of the NAA and will be attending and exhibiting at the Annual Education Conference and Exposition. NWP representatives will be demonstrating UtilitySmart, the next generation of utility management services for conference attendees at NAA Booth # 115.
