Michael Gilbert Named CEO of Long Island Spy Museum Publishing and Spy Speaker Symposium

STONY BROOK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 2, 2012) - Business leader Michael Gilbert has been named Chief Executive Officer of Long Island Spy Museum Publishing, a nonfiction imprint dedicated to the espionage genre. He is also taking the helm of the new Spy Speaker Symposium, a for-profit company that will work in conjunction with the Long Island Spy Museum but remain an independent private entity.

The Long Island Spy Museum is a non-profit, apolitical Museum dedicated to educating the public about spies and espionage and how they shaped American history.

Long Island Spy Museum Publishing is a for-profit joint venture between the Long Island Spy Museum, multimedia book publisher Shadow Lawn Press and Eye Spy Intelligence Magazine, the world's only independent publication dedicated to espionage and intelligence.

Gilbert will oversee all of the day-to-day operations and leadership decisions regarding these two ventures.

"I am looking forward to working with our new joint venture partners while simultaneously supporting the Museum," said Gilbert. "Long Island Spy Museum CEO Burke Liburt is a class act and a well-respected professional. He will be an ideal asset in building connections with the local community and leading the Museum through the construction and grand-opening phases."

"Our plan was always for me to set up the joint ventures and negotiate the contracts, build the exhibits, solicit corporate sponsors, launch the brand and set up the social network outreach program, and then turn it over to a well-known, sophisticated CEO from the local area," he continued. "That is what we are doing and I am looking forward to working with Burke and his team."

As previously announced, Burke Liburt has been named Chief Executive Officer of the Long Island Spy Museum. He will be in charge of day-to-day operations including construction, marketing, development, educational programs, community outreach, government relations and all other leadership functions.

The non-profit Museum is supported by donations and grants. Both Long Island Spy Museum Publishing and the Spy Speaker Symposium will pay a yearly royalty fee to the Long Island Spy Museum.

The corporate offices of Long Island Spy Museum Publishing and the Spy Speaker Symposium are located in Setauket, New York.
