Michelle M. Lair Named Treasurer of Century Aluminum Company

MONTEREY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2006 --Century Aluminum Company (NASDAQ: CENX) announced today that Michelle Lair has been elected to succeed Daniel J. Krofcheck as treasurer, effective June 9, 2006. Mr. Krofcheck, who will remain with the company through year-end to assist with the transition, has chosen to pursue opportunities outside of Century.

Ms. Lair, who joined Century in May 2000, was appointed assistant treasurer in Nov. 2005. Prior to joining Century, she worked as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche in Costa Mesa, CA. Ms. Lair is a graduate of The University of California at Santa Barbara and is a Certified Public Accountant.
