Michigan Association of RVs and Campgrounds (MARVAC) Hosts "RVs & Campsites at the Capitol," May 17, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Join MARVAC in Lansing to Celebrate RV & Camping Week

OKEMOS, MI -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 2, 2006 -- From Memorial Day to Labor Day, Michigan RVers will travel 75 million miles and spend over 1.5 million nights in campgrounds and RV resorts. To celebrate RVing and camping in Michigan, the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) will host RVs & Campsites at the Capitol, May 17, 2006, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Lansing.

"RVs & Campsites at the Capitol gives the industry a great setting for displaying recreation vehicles, and for distributing campground information to legislators, a variety of state agency directors and their staffs," said Bill Sheffer, director of MARVAC. "This will give many state employees and downtown office workers an opportunity to see the latest in recreation vehicles and how affordable the RV lifestyle can be for a couple or a family of eight."

Come join MARVAC for a "campground" style lunch of hot dogs, chips, pop and s'mores. While enjoying lunch, tour one of the ten RVs on display along Capitol Avenue.

"Nothing says outdoor fun and family recreation like a trip in a recreation vehicle across the great state of Michigan. Sharing hot dogs and s'mores with recreation vehicle and camping industry members is a great way to spend a spring afternoon outside the Capitol," said Sheffer.

Nearly 8 million U.S. households now own an RV -- a 15 percent increase over the past four years and a stunning 58 percent gain since 1980.

The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) is celebrating its 65th anniversary, making it one of Michigan's oldest trade associations. MARVAC is a statewide, non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging growth in the recreation vehicle and private campground industries while contributing to the quality of Michigan tourism.
