Michigan Retail Appliance Stores Offering Sales and Service: A Better Consumer Choice Reports Michigan Business Biography Sponsored by Industry Visions on NBC 25 News

GRAND BLANC, MI--(Marketwire - Aug 7, 2012) - Michigan Business Biography is a television news presentation sponsored by Industry Visions on the NBC 25 Michigan morning news. The scope of the program is to present an up close and personal insight into Michigan entrepreneurs that have developed successful businesses. The program focuses on small family operations that have beaten the odds of failure through perseverance even when it looked like all was lost. "When people visit a store or purchase something from any business, they have little knowledge of the sacrifices these owners have made for success," said Allyn Mark, host of the program. He also states, "Michigan business owners have put in long hours for little or no pay often times for months or years! These are the unsung heroes of our economy who make America great. These are the stories that have fallen through the cracks of media coverage. These are stories that inspire courage for other Michigan entrepreneurs and we are proud to tell their stories. With the advent of the 2012 Olympic games, Industry Visions discovered a gold medal winner in appliance service whose story we are proud to tell on Michigan Business Biography."

Carl's Appliance of Grand Blanc, Michigan, is one such example. Carl Snyder is considered a Michigan retail appliance store pioneer. In the 1960's, his aspirations were Olympic gold as a champion swimmer. While attending college, Carl worked part time as an appliance store service assistant and became disturbed that customers were deliberately being overcharged for service calls. He put off dreams of the Olympics to open his own appliance service business offering lower prices and faster service. The recession of the early 1980's saw the crash of most major Michigan appliance retail stores. Carl knew if he had a retail location, he could fill a tremendous void in the market place with even better service. "My concept was rapid reactive service," said Snyder. "I wanted to offer instant service that the big stores just couldn't do. Imagine someone having a refrigerator problem; I could be there and if I couldn't fix it, I could deliver a new one immediately! People that visited my new store were amazed. I not only sold them the product, but personally delivered it to their home, and when they had a service problem I was the service man, too! Rapid reactive service is still the way we do it; that's why our customer roster has grown through the years. We also have an appliance dealer buying group. People who think they get the best prices from a lumber yard are mistaken. We have great prices and the up-close personal service people crave. I want people to remember we are appliance specialists; it's all we do and we love every minute of it."
