Michigan Retailers Association Endorses Rick Snyder for Governor

LANSING, MI--(Marketwire - August 31, 2010) -  The Michigan Retailers Association today announced its endorsement of Rick Snyder for governor.

James P. Hallan, president and chief executive officer of the Michigan Retailers Association, called his vision and plan "a fresh, effective approach to reinventing Michigan and rebuilding the state's economy."

"Our endorsement of Rick Snyder was unanimous. He has a track record of success in creating jobs, and he clearly has the vision and strategy to move Michigan forward," said Hallan.

The endorsement came after a meeting between Mr. Snyder and the Michigan Retailers Association Board of Directors and the Retailers Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors, which also endorsed him.

"His business acumen and consensus building approach is exactly the formula Michigan needs to get back on track," said Hallan. "We look forward to his new approach, which includes benchmarking state government in order to eliminate laws, taxes, regulations and other practices that make Michigan stand out negatively from other states."

The Michigan Retailers Association is the unified voice of retailing in Michigan and the nation's largest state trade association of general merchandise retailers. MRA's nearly 5,000 retail business members operate more than 12,000 stores across the state. Retailers Mutual is the workers' compensation insurance company of Michigan Retailers Association.
