Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative Selects ArborMetrix's Registry Solution

Michigan Hospital Collaborative to Use Real-Time Database and Analytic Platform to Improve Quality, Outcomes and Cost-Effectiveness of Spinal Surgery Across State

ANN ARBOR, MI--(Marketwired - Sep 24, 2013) - ArborMetrix, Inc., a leading provider of real-time healthcare analytics, today announced that Michigan Spine Surgery Improvement Collaborative (MSSIC) selected its fully integrated, cloud-based registry solution to create a statewide database and reporting system to improve the quality of care of spinal surgery across the State of Michigan. (Read more about MSSIC in this link.)

Using the tool, the collaborative will be able to aggregate surgical outcomes from thousands of patients; develop best practices; and support member hospitals' and surgeons' analysis of their own performance in real time.

"We selected ArborMetrix's solution because its excellent functionality, reliability, and integration of data collection, analysis and real-time reporting," said David Nerenz, PhD, director of the Center for Health Policy and Health Services Research at Henry Ford Health System and an Associate Program Director of MSSIC. "The scientific rigor of the algorithms ArborMetrix uses to generate actionable information about quality and performance, the flexibility that lets individual users easily configure the system to meet their needs, and how the tool adjusts for risk and severity factors were important to us."

Nerenz continued, "ArborMetrix will enable MSSIC participants to measure, track and monitor their performance in real time, which will help them optimize quality of surgical care, reduce surgical complications, minimize cost of episodes of care, and identify best practices."

"We are honored that this group of hospitals in Michigan chose our integrated reporting and analytics platform to facilitate faster and more informed clinical and business decision-making," said Brett Furst, CEO of ArborMetrix. "With our system, they will be better positioned to participate in the growing number of clinical quality improvement initiatives from public and private payers, promote evidence-based care delivery, and navigate emerging value-based purchasing models that pay providers according to outcomes achieved."
