Michigan Trucking Association Honors Con-way Freight for Safe Driving

Company Wins Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety

ANN ARBOR, MI--(Marketwire - March 19, 2008) - Con-way Freight came out a winner at the recent Michigan Trucking Association (MTA) Annual Safety Awards Banquet. The less-than-truckload carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW) today announced that it has been recognized for its exemplary safety record and practices by the MTA. Con-way was honored with a fleet safety plaque for Outstanding Achievement in Highway Safety in the General Commodities division. Con-way also received this award in 2007. The annual awards were presented by Terri Lynn Land, Michigan's secretary of state, at a ceremony in Lansing in late February.

"Once again, we are pleased to be able to honor Con-way Freight for its outstanding achievement," said Walter G. Heinritzi, executive director, Michigan Trucking Association. "Con-way clearly exhibits an ongoing commitment to safety, and we're glad to have the opportunity to recognize the company among its peers."

Winners are selected based on factors including miles driven, types of driving, number of accidents and other safety indicators. The awards are sponsored by the Great West Casualty Company, one of the largest insurers of trucking companies in the United States.

"The fact that we won this award two years in a row is a testament to our drivers' dedication to safe driving practices," said John G. Labrie, president, Con-way Freight. "Safety is a core value at Con-way, and we believe winning this award showcases our drivers' devotion to making it a top priority."

Based in Lansing, the MTA supports a current membership of more than 600 companies and has been serving Michigan's trucking industry since 1934. The organization's mission is to enhance the trucking industry's image, promote highway safety, provide educational programs for its members and serve as a clearinghouse for information on the trucking industry.
