Extreme Efficiency 1.5A HyperLight™ Load Buck Converter, MIC23150

Micrel's1.5A HyperLight Load™ Regulator is once again being exhibited in China due to its support of green home/office appliances and handheld products. The MIC23150 is the highest output current device in the popular HyperLight Load™ family of synchronous step-down regulators. The patented architecture implemented in the MIC23150 delivers extremely high efficiency light load for portable products and green home/office appliances. The MIC23150 features internal MOSFETs able to deliver up to 1.5 Amps output current while consuming just 23 Micro Amps of quiescent current inside a tiny 2mm x 2mm Thin MLF® package. As with many other members of the HyperLight Load™ family of step-down regulators, the MIC23150 achieves up to 93 percent peak efficiency and an impressive 87 percent efficiency under a 1mili Amp load.

Tiny Dual Low Dropout Voltage Linear Regulators, MIC5380/MIC5381

The MIC5380 and the MIC5381 are part of a new family of dual LDOs offering low dropout voltage of 155mV@150mAmp, more than 60db Power Supply Ripple Rejection (PSRR) and low quiescent current 32microA, in the smallest possible form factor. This family is offered in a miniscule 1.0 mm x 1.0 mm 6 pin leadless thin MLF® package making them ideal for today's most advanced and smallest portable applications possible including cellular phones, RF power, camera modules, imaging sensors for digital still and video cameras, PDAs, portable media players (PMP) and PC cameras.

The MIC5380 and the MIC5381 both address the need for continuing portable size reduction while offering significant advantages over solutions currently on the market. This new addition of high performance dual LDOs offer excellent overall performance and ultra-small foot print for all space-constrained portable electronics. The MIC5380 and the MIC5381 integrate two high performance LDOs that offer exceptional transient response while requiring only small and inexpensive 1microF ceramic capacitors. In addition, the MIC5381 offers an auto discharge function.

SuperThermal™ Buck Regulator, MIC22700

The MIC22700 is a high efficiency 7A integrated synchronous buck (step-down) regulator optimized for the highest efficiency. It achieves more than 95 percent efficiency, while still switching at 1MHz over a broad load range with only 1µH inductor and a 47µF output capacitor. It also features built-in sequencing, tracking and ramp control -- enabling all power-up sequencing and tracking protocols. The solution is ideal for high power density point-of-load conversion, servers and routers, DVD recorders, computing peripherals, base stations, FPGAs, DSP and low voltage ASIC power applications.

Hyper Speed Control™ family of Constant On Time Controllers, MIC2164/MIC2174

The family of Hyper Speed Control™ PWM controllers, the MIC2164/MIC2174 feature Micrel's Hyper Speed Control™ architecture which significantly reduce the required output capacitance and allows for excellent transient response, while making high delta V operation (VIN=28V, VOUT=0.8V) possible. The solutions are ideal for set-top boxes, gateways, routers, computing peripherals, and telecom/networking equipments. Micrel's unique Hyper Speed Control™ architecture also gives customers in China reduced BOM cost, smaller footprint, lower system-level cost and world class transient response for cost-sensitive applications such as set-top-box, graphic cards and servers. Micrel's new devices are constant on-time mode PWM controllers that feature wide input voltage range, high performance, and are capable of driving up to 25A of load current. The MIC2164 operates at 300kHz PWM frequency. The solutions achieve greater than 95 percent efficiency, while still switching at high frequencies, over a broad load range. The MIC2174 operates over an input supply range of 3V to 40V, and is independent of the IC supply voltage. The MIC2174 also operates at a fixed frequency of 300kHz and is capable of supplying 25A output current. The output voltage is adjustable from 0.8V to 0.86V IN.

World's Lowest Vin DDR Controller, MIC5163

The MIC5163 is a dual regulator controller designed specifically for low voltage memory termination applications such as DDR3 and GDDR3/4/5. The device offers a simple, low cost JEDEC compliant solution for terminating high-speed, low-voltage digital buses. It controls two external N-Channel MOSFETs to form two separate regulators and operates by switching between either the high-side MOSFET or the low-side MOSFET, depending upon whether the current is being sourced to the load or being sinked by the regulator. Designed to provide a universal solution for memory termination regardless of input voltage, output voltage, or load current; the desired MIC5163 output voltage can be externally programmed by forcing the reference voltage.

High Bandwidth Solutions

GPON and GEPON ONU Transceiver -- Burst Mode Laser Driver With Integrated Post Amp, SY88236L/AL

The SY88236L/AL, a single supply 3.3V, 2.5Gbps integrated burst mode laser driver and post amplifier, targets GEPON and GPON ONU/ONT optical module applications. With excellent performance, and very fast transmit enable and disable time, the device is designed to be user-friendly, simple to implement, and cost-effective. The driver can deliver modulation current up to 85mA and bias current up to 70mA to support high launch transmit power. The device also features power monitoring functions, such as mod monitoring, bias monitoring, and RSSI. The post amplifier can detect signals with amplitude as low as 5mVpp and has the option to output either a Loss-of-Signal (LOS) or Signal-Detect (SD).

2.5Gbps SONET/SDH and GbE Transceiver -- Laser Driver With Integrated Post Amp SY88232L/AL

The SY88232L/AL is a single supply 3.3V integrated laser driver and post amplifier for SFF, SFP or compact SFP that targets SONET/SDH OC-3 to OC-48 and GbE applications. Packaged in a small 5mm x 5mm MLF®, the driver is capable of delivering up to 85mA modulation current, 75mA bias current, and supports DC-coupling between the driver output and the laser. The post amplifier features 5mVpp input sensitivity and has LOS or SD select option. The transceiver also offers modulation monitoring, bias monitoring, and RSSI. This transceiver is ideal for designers looking for a high-performance, yet user-friendly, and cost-effective solution.

Fiber Optic Module Controller With Internal Calibration, MIC3003

The MIC3003 is a fiber optic module controller that enables implementation of sophisticated, hot-pluggable fiber optic transceivers with intelligent laser control and an internally calibrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring Interface per SFF-8472. This device integrates all the non-datapath functions of a SFP/SFP+ transceiver into a tiny 4mm x 4mm MLF® package and performs the role of a microcontroller peripheral in transponders or optical transceivers. The device also offers APC and numerous other features including interrupt, alarm and masking options, power-on hour meter, two-wire serial interface, and multi-part mode. This controller, in combination with Micrel laser driver, and post amplifier, provides customers with a total Micrel chipset solution that meets the industry's most stringent performance and cost objectives.

10G Transceiver with Programmable Equalization and Pre-Emphasis, SY88808L

The SY88808L high-speed transceiver is optimized for two major applications. The first is the active copper cable assembly. It is able to drive 10 meters of 30AWG cable at speed up to more than 10.3125Gbps. The second application is for backplane and transmission line data-path management. The SY88808L is capable of transmitting signals with up to 13dB of pre-emphasis as well as equalizing serial data up to 10.3Gbps across more than 1 meter of FR4. The SY88808L differential inputs can directly interface to any differential signal as small as 90mVpk. Both channels of the transceiver have programmable PE on the transmitting end and programmable EQ on the receiving end. The transmitter can be set to any level of pre-emphasis, from 0dB to 13dB. Unlike discrete EQ settings, the patent-pending AnyLength™ EQ feature provides optimal results as well as saving power.

Highly Integrated System-on-a-Chip Solutions, KSZ9692PB/KSZ9021RL

The KSZ9692PB is a highly integrated 10/100/100Base-T Gigabit System-on-a-Chip (SoC) featuring an ARM 922T 32-bit processor, IP security engine and a comprehensive set of peripherals that address the cost-sensitive, high-performance needs of a wide variety of networking and communications applications including enhanced residential gateways high-end printer servers, VOIP systems, IP-based multimedia systems, wireless Access Points/Mesh Nodes, USB device servers, Industrial Control, video surveillance systems and SMB/SME network security, including VPN routers.

The KSZ9021RL is a single-port 10/100/100Base-T Gigabit transceiver that supports data transfer over standard CAT-5 unshielded twisted pair cable. The solution features robust performance and very low power consumption. The on-chip integration of termination resistors and LDO controller function, coupled with built-in diagnostic features, significantly reduces cost and complexity in gigabit Ethernet applications. Single-Port 10/100BASE-T/TX Embedded MAC+PHY Embedded Controller With 8/16/32-bit and SPI Host Interfaces, KSZ8851 Family

The KSZ8851 is a single-port 10/100BASE-T/TX embedded controller product family with 8/16/32-bit and SPI host interfaces. The high throughput device, KSZ8851-16/32MQL, is pin compatible with Micrel's KSZ8841-16/32MQL and KSZ8842-16/32MQL product families and ideal for a wide variety of Ethernet applications in the IPSTB, VoIP, and Industrial Ethernet markets. The KSZ8851-16MLL integrates a Fast Ethernet MAC/PHY with an 8/16-bit generic host processor interface in a smaller package and the KSZ8851SNL, on the other hand, supports SPI interface. The device has 18KB of internal buffer memory shared between the RXQ and TXQ. The buffer memory on the receive queue is 12KB, while the buffer memory for the transmit queue is 6KB. The solution supports both Big-Endian and Little-Endian processors as well as IPv4/IPv6 checksum generation and checking. These features greatly reduce CPU usage and improve overall system performance. The KSZ8851 product family also gives designers enhanced power management feature with energy detect mode.

Integrated 10/100BASE-T/TX/FX 3-Port Switch, KSZ8873 Family

The KSZ8873MLL is a highly integrated 10/100BASE-T/TX 3-port switch on a chip offering the industry's smallest footprint. It is designed to give customers low port count and a cost-sensitive, power efficient, advanced power management solution. Designed to support the GREEN requirement in today's switch systems, the IC features advanced power management schemes that include hardware power down, software power down, and the energy detect mode that shuts down the transceiver when a port is idle. The device also offers the by-pass mode which enables system-level power savings. In this mode, the processor connected to the switch through the MII interface can be shut down without impacting normal switch operation.
