Microgen Named a Strong Performer Among Comprehensive Integration Solution Vendors by Independent Research Firm

LONDON and BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 9, 2010) - Microgen Plc (LSE: MCGN) today announced it has been identified as a "Strong Performer" among 15 leading comprehensive integration solution (CIS) vendors that Forrester Research Inc. invited to participate in its November 2010 report "The Forrester Wave™: Comprehensive Integration Solutions (CIS), Q4 2010." The report highlights Microgen's "strong support for application integration, business process management (BPM), business rules, data management, service-oriented architecture (SOA), and model-driven application development."

According to the report, while the benefits of a CIS solution vary depending on an enterprise's size and the complexity level of its integration challenges, respondents identified several common benefits, including: "easier integration with internal applications, better control over file transfer and better support for process improvement efforts." Amongst the 15 leading comprehensive integrated solutions, Microgen is identified as one of the vendors that is particularly strong in providing a comprehensive, model driven application development environment.

"We believe securing one of Forrester's 'Strong Performer' ratings for our Aptitude Version 3.0 platform is both recognition and validation of the investment we've made in boosting system and transaction performance, enabling in-database process management, and building SOA orchestration on top of our strong integration layer that blends cloud services with legacy systems in one rules-based platform," said Tom Crawford, Senior Vice President of North America, Microgen. "With the CIS application market expanding, Microgen looks to set the benchmark in developing technology that provides a comprehensive CIS environment that delivers enterprise projects with a strong ROI and that meets the demand for high-performing, low latency BPM technology."

Microgen Aptitude Version 3.0 has been developed to address the ever-growing demand for high levels of transaction processing performance, competitive agility and clarity within business operations. It provides a scalable platform for the future and is based on an extended SOA, which enables applications to use both third-party web services and high-speed Microgen Aptitude capabilities. Launched in June 2010, Microgen Aptitude Version 3.0 further extends transaction processing capabilities to deliver unparalleled transparency, control, flexibility and collaboration between IT and business users, while bringing enhanced functionality in a single fully integrated product and a 30 percent increase in performance -- over and above the previous version's market-leading performance.
