EMMY® Gala Set for October 1, 2016 in the Taneycomo Ballroom at the Branson Convention Center

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwired - Jun 9, 2015) - The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) Mid-America announced this morning that, for the first time in the history of the Mid-America EMMY® Awards the gala will be held outside of St. Louis or Kansas City. The 40th Anniversary gala will be held in Branson, Missouri on October 1, 2016 at the Branson Convention Center and is presented by Branson and Silver Dollar City. This will be the EMMY® awards largest venue in history, with seating for nearly 1,000 attendees.

The Mid-America EMMY® awards are presented each fall to the best and the brightest media professionals across all broadcast and video disciplines in the region. The NATAS Mid-America chapter covers media markets in portions of eight states including Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Iowa and Oklahoma. NATAS Mid-America is one of 19 regional chapters that act as the standard bearers for excellence in the television broadcasting industry.

"Branson has been on our radar for several years now as a location to host the regional EMMY® gala weekend," said Stacey Woelfel, President of NATAS Mid-America. "Branson is a central location and a destination that is just hours away for each of our attendees. For our 40th anniversary gala, there is no place we'd rather hold the regional EMMY® gala weekend."

In a weekend of firsts for the regional EMMY® Awards, there will be an inaugural golf tournament on EMMY® weekend, benefiting the NATAS scholarship fund. The weekend will also include a workshop for media professionals and a trip to Silver Dollar City for many of the families coming to Branson.

"Our focus in Branson has been to bring new, major events like the Mid-America EMMY® awards to our city so people have the opportunity to experience Branson and all things our city has to offer," said Jeff Siefried, President/CEO, Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau.

"Bringing this prestigious event to Branson will have a significant economic impact as well, as media professionals, their colleagues and families visit our hotels, shows, attractions and restaurants," said Brad Thomas, President, Silver Dollar City Attractions. We are all pleased to welcome the regional EMMY® Awards to Branson."

The host for the 2016 Emmys will be announced later this year at the 2015 Mid-America EMMY® Awards in St. Louis. For the first time in more than a decade, the 2015 EMMY® Gala will have two hosts. Daytime EMMY® award-winning Game Show Host Todd Newton is back for the second year in a row. He will host alongside actress Amy Paffrath, who's hosted Dating Naked on VH1, E! News Now, TV Guide's Hollywood 411, appears as "Mayday Amy" on the Amazon Kindle Fire ads and had guest starred on the hit CBS series 2 Broke Girls.

The 39th Annual EMMY® Awards Gala presented by Branson and Silver Dollar City returns to St. Louis and the newly renovated St. Louis Marriott Downtown (previously the Renaissance Grand Hotel). It will be held October 3, 2015 in the hotel's Grand Ballroom. The black-tie affair is open to the public.

A limited number of gala tickets will go on sale in August for the 2015 regional EMMY® Awards in St. Louis and in early 2016 for the 40th Annual Mid-America EMMY® awards in Branson. They will be exclusively available by calling (314) 533-2993.
