Midland Identifies Several New VTEM Exploration Targets on the Weedon Property

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 4, 2008) - Midland Exploration Inc. ("Midland") (TSX VENTURE:MD) in partnership with Breakwater Resources Ltd., is pleased to announce the completion of a helicopter-borne magnetic and electromagnetic survey (VTEM) on its wholly-owned Weedon property located about 120 kilometres south of Quebec City.

Several new VTEM targets identified

The airborne survey, totalling over 1,600 line kilometres, was designed to delineate new conductive zones of base metal mineralization on the property. The survey has detected several new, previously unidentified conductors. Some of these conductors were identified at greater depths than the depth penetration of conventional surveys carried out on the property in the past. The Midland/Breakwater exploration team is finalizing a list of first priority targets that will be followed up with more detailed ground geophysics which will start in the coming weeks and will be followed by a diamond drilling program on the best targets. These new conductors were detected on several flight lines and have a good magnetic association, typical of most massive sulphide deposits.

Since the fall of 2007, compilation of all previous work on the property has continued. Moreover, mechanical trenching was conducted on the southwestern extension of a new surface showing discovered in 2006, which returned exceptional grades of up to 2.23% Cu, 23.7% Zn, 5.95% Pb, 263 g/t Ag and 9.22 g/t Au in grab samples. Assay results received for channel samples collected in November 2007, within the alteration zone adjacent to the 2006 showing, confirm the continuity of anomalous base and precious metals over approximately 12 metres to the southwest of the main sulphide showing. Best results from four different channels are summarized in Table 1.

Table 1: Best Results (November 2007 channel sampling)

- 1.20% Cu, 1.41% Pb, 0.50% Zn, 88.0 g/t Ag and 0.45 g/t Au over 1.0 m

- 0.69% Cu, 2.47% Pb, 0.39% Zn, 98.0 g/t Ag and 0.20 g/t Au over 0.50 m

- 0.20% Cu, 1.29% Pb, 2.37% Zn, 46.0 g/t Ag and 0.28 g/t Au over 0.50 m

- 0.13% Cu, 0.42% Pb, 0.42% Zn, 47.9 g/t Ag and 1.05 g/t Au over 0.50 m

The Weedon property consists of 242 claims totalling 132 km2 and covers more than 30 kilometres of the Ascot-Weedon volcano-sedimentary belt. The Ascot-Weedon belt hosts several previously mined volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits and exhibits many similarities with other prolific VMS mining camps, namely Bathurst in New Brunswick and Buchans in Newfoundland.

Breakwater may acquire 50% of Midland's interest by funding $3,000,000 in exploration expenditures and by making payments totalling $200,000 over three years. Midland will be the operator until a positive pre-feasibility study is completed. Upon acquiring a 50% interest, Breakwater may acquire an additional 15% interest by delivering a bankable feasibility study and by paying Midland $40,000 per year. Additionally, Breakwater is required to spend a minimum of $200,000 per year in exploration work on the property until the feasibility study is delivered.

Quality Control (QA/QC)

The Weedon exploration program is supervised by Mr. Mario Masson, P.Geo, a Qualified Person as defined under NI 43-101. Analyses were performed by ALS Chemex of Val-d'Or, Quebec which has a strict internal QA/QC program which includes mineralized standards, blanks and duplicate samples.
