SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 24, 2014) - Midokura, a global company focused on network virtualization, today announced several new industry accolades within the last month. For network virtualization innovation and overall company success, Midokura earned the grand prize in Nokia Networks' Silicon Valley Open Innovation Challenge. For a second consecutive year, the company was also named to CRN's 2014 List of Emerging Vendors, CRN's 10 Coolest Virtualization Startups of 2014 and the AlwaysOn Global 250 Top Private Companies.

In May 2014, Nokia Networks launched its Silicon Valley Open Innovation Challenge, offering the brightest innovators an opportunity to collaborate with the company on game-changing ideas to help shape the future of the telecommunications industry. From more than 90 submissions, Nokia Networks chose Midokura as grand prize winner in the Telco Cloud category for its network virtualization solution, MidoNet.

Continuing its momentum in the market, Midokura was also recognized as one of the hottest emerging technology vendors in 2014 by CRN magazine for a second consecutive year. The annual "CRN Emerging Vendors" list identifies up-and-coming technology vendors that have introduced innovative new products, creating opportunities for channel partners in North America to create high-margin, cutting-edge solutions for their customers. The company was also featured on CRN's 10 Coolest Virtualization Startups of 2014 list.

Also for the second year in a row, Midokura was named among the AlwaysOn Global 250 Private Companies. The AlwaysOn Global 250 represents leadership in global innovation, developing software and hardware solutions that are ushering in a new era of global prosperity. Each AlwaysOn Global 250 company was selected based on a set of five criteria: innovation, market potential, commercialization, stakeholder value and media buzz.

Midokura's flagship product, MidoNet, is a software-based, highly distributed network virtualization system that allows enterprises and service providers to build, run and manage virtual networks with increased control and flexibility. Using industry standards and leveraging existing physical infrastructure, MidoNet reduces costs and improves stability, scalability and performance of networks.

"Midokura is honored to accept new awards and recognition from our respected peers, industry leaders and media," said Dan Mihai Dumitriu, co-founder and CEO of Midokura. "The continued industry attention and global customer demand makes a powerful statement about the disruptive impact of network virtualization.
