Mighty Mud Dash 5K Returns to Houston This Spring

"The Texas Mud Run" Will Have Participants Climbing, Swinging, and Splashing Through Its 3.1-Mile Obstacle Course

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - February 17, 2015) - The Mighty Mud Dash, a semi-annual 5K obstacle course mud run, will make its return to Sam Houston Race Park in Houston on the weekend of March 14 and 15, 2015. The mud run has been getting over 35,000 runners' feet wet and muddy since 2012, and this year's event promises to be even more challenging and fun than ever. It will be the seventh in the series of mud runs that has made its appearances in both Houston and Dallas.

The same muddy madness Texans know and love

Up to 5000-6000 mighty mudders will attempt to conquer over 22+ obstacles in an event spread out over two days. Waves will start at 9:00am and will be released every 20 minutes until 12:40pm (Saturday till 12:40pm, Sunday till 11:40am). Along the 3.1 mile course, runners will encounter a large variety of obstacles, including barbed wire, mud pits, a pool of ice water, slides, massive walls to climb over, rope swings, monkey bars, and more. Participants who finish the race celebrate their accomplishment with a Texas-shaped medal, free beer, food trucks, and live music held within the festival.

2015: Bringing new challenges, welcoming new age groups

The Mighty Mud Dash's special competitive wave will make a big return for 2015. A $500 purse prize broken down into $250 for 1st place male and female finishers is at stake for this year. Limited to 100 participants, the competitive wave will be held at 8:20 AM on Saturday, March 14. For those who don't want to be too competitive but still want to measure their performance, chip timing is available as an optional $5 add-on for Saturday's run only.

In addition to encouraging competition among teens and adults, the Mighty Mud Dash also offers a 100-yard unlimited kids course. Kids aged 6-13 who register will receive a t-shirt and medal as well as the ability to test their little might as many times as they want through their own scaled-down obstacle course.

Registration and Pricing

Registration for the Mighty Mud Dash can be done on their website as well as at the event itself. Pricing for the event varies depending on how early one registers before the event begins. The earlier one registers, the more money is saved. The competitive wave, limited to 100 participants, includes a $10 premium on top of the standard registration price.
