Mike Long and Dick Monfort to Co-Chair Denver Zoo's Do At The Zoo Gala

Long and Monfort Will Preside Over Zoo's Largest Fundraiser to Support Education

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - April 09, 2015) - "I'm so pleased to have business and community leaders Mike Long and Dick Monfort working with us to support children's education as Co-Chairs of the 2015 Do At The Zoo gala, set for Thursday, June 18," says CEO and President of Denver Zoo, Shannon Block. "Proceeds raised at this year's event will be dedicated to the Zoo's education programs."

"This year's Do At The Zoo is expected to raise more than $500,000 for STEM education, so I am thrilled to be part of this event. This is one of the best events in Denver and supports a cause very near and dear to my heart," says Long.

"At Denver Zoo it's great to see multigenerational families enjoy the Zoo together. It's a pleasure to continue to support Denver Zoo's robust education efforts," says Monfort.

Mike Long is the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Arrow Electronics, Inc., a global provider of products, services and solutions to industrial and commercial users of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions. He is also active in the Young Presidents' Organization, a global peer networking group that, among other values, shares a commitment to learning as a lifelong adventure. Like Long, Monfort is also a long-time Zoo supporter and has served on the Zoo's board since 2004.

Denver's favorite summer party and the Zoo's largest fundraiser will not disappoint, highlighting Denver's best restaurants, beverages and entertainment at one of the wildest local venues. Do At The Zoo will be presented by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Proceeds from this year's event support Denver Zoo's education efforts, which aim to ignite a passion for science in young children through programs at the Zoo, as well as outreach in the community. Each year, the Zoo's Education Department serves roughly 215,000 individuals through its programs, which bring science education alive. The Zoo strives to make these programs accessible to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity, through scholarships, outreach, bilingual delivery and more.

Do At The Zoo kicks off on Thursday, June 18 at 6 p.m. for the early entrance VIP Party and at 7 p.m. for regular ticket holders. Join Denver's wild party animals for the zoo's best gala ever, featuring more than 60 of Denver's top restaurants serving their best menu items. Guests also will enjoy music, drinks, dancing and close-up animal encounters in the incomparable setting of Denver Zoo at twilight. Tickets for the event are on sale now at www.denverzoo.org.
