Vibe Gospel Music (VGM) exists to facilitate the growth of Christian music across Canada and to host an annual people's choice awards recognizing outstanding achievement in music in Canada. As part of the week long event VGM assists in the educational and training opportunities for Canadian Christian music artists.
Since its inception in Calgary, Alberta, six years ago the show has transformed from a local music showcase to a full-fledged awards show open for all Religious Artists throughout Canada, encompassing the various genres of music. The awards show has grown to 23 categories, which now includes for the first time this year the Aboriginal Christian Music Category.
Dionne Smith, President and Founder of VGM has a passion for Canadian Artists and Musicians and has created the Awards to allow proper recognition for these Artists. Our American counterparts have the Dove and Stellar awards which celebrates the industry south of the border. The creation and continued development of the ShaiAwards will allow Canadians to recognize and celebrate our own talent.

The year 2005 marks a special year for the awards as it embarks on its 7th year, in Biblical terms the number 7 means completion. Next year the award show will be in Winnipeg.
