Mike Wallace, Member of Parliament (Burlington) Attends Second Anniversary of Saigon Broadcasting Television Network

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 14, 2008) - On behalf of the Honourable Jason Kenney, Secretary of State (Multiculturalism and Canadian Identity), Mike Wallace, Member of Parliament (Burlington) will attend the second anniversary celebration of the Saigon Broadcasting Television Network (SBTN). The celebration, to be held March 15, will include a musical in English and Vietnamese, as well as a commemorative ceremony dedicated to the "Viet Phi" Boat People who were rescued from their stateless status in the Philippines.

"The Government of Canada is proud to take part in celebrating the second anniversary of the Saigon Broadcasting Television Network," said Secretary of State Kenney. "This event provides us with the opportunity to learn from each other and experience our differences, while celebrating our common Canadian identity."

"We are honoured to have Mr. Wallace participate in the Saigon Broadcasting Television Network's second anniversary event," said Mr. Hach Nguyen, Toronto Operations Manager of SBTN. "We appreciate this gesture and look forward to receiving him as our keynote speaker."

The Saigon Broadcasting Television Network, located in Toronto, serves the Vietnamese-Canadian community. It broadcasts programs from the International Saigon Broadcasting Television Network and also features local Canadian content. Programs include movies, music, drama, sports, and children's programs.
