Mikroscan Launches Two New State-of-the-Art, Plug-and-Play Remote Telepathology Devices and Unveils Company Rebranding

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 3, 2014) - USCAP [Booth 1118] - Mikroscan Technologies, a pioneer in desktop whole-slide scanning systems for pathology, biology and research applications, today announced two new products at USCAP (booth 1118), the Mikroscan MC2 and the Mikroscan L6. The company is also unveiling new corporate and product rebranding as well as a new look for its website.

Mikroscan MC2
The Mikroscan MC2, a manual telepathology system, makes it possible for anyone with an existing microscope with a photoport to engage in live telepathology. With it, a technician can control the microscope while the pathologist can remotely view the slide on their PC, Mac, or tablet device. The remote user communicates specimen position using on-screen commands (Focus Up/Down, Change Magnification, etc.), thereby improving collaboration and diagnosis as well as patient treatment. The Mikroscan MC2 is pre-packaged with camera and an appropriate adapter.

Mikroscan L6
Offering pathologists and researchers unprecedented flexibility and efficiency, the Mikroscan L6 is the world's first plug-and-play, remote-controlled telepathology device, supporting live transmission of up to six slides at a time. The Mikroscan L6 provides pathologists and specialists with the ability to view and control up to six slides in real-time around the globe for better patient care. This enables collaboration, enhances education and research, and assists in training pathologists in developing countries.

Both products come pre-loaded with Mikroscan's intuitive Live-Q Launcher OS software. Live-Q Launcher allows doctors and specialists to control each device from virtually anywhere around the globe to view each scan, allowing team collaboration for optimal healthcare and diagnosis.

"We're excited to announce the Mikroscan L6 and Mikroscan MC2," said Mikroscan Chief Technology Officer, Victor Casas. "Pathology communications encompasses vastly more than simply Digital Pathology. It is the interconnection of facilities, doctors, people, and places through real time local and remote imaging for up to the minute results. Combined with Digital Pathology, it improves patient care and the lives of those who care so much about the patients. Our focus is to give pathologists what they need -- when and where they need it."

Corporate Rebranding
Mikroscan recently unveiled a complete corporate and product rebranding to reflect the versatility and innovation its solutions offer. Its new logo, website and tagline, "Digital Pathology. Anytime, Anywhere," communicate to current and prospective customers that Mikroscan is the future of digital pathology.

"We're providing pathologists with the tools they need to more successfully run their practices and deliver better quality diagnostics faster and more cost-effectively," said David Barach, CEO of Mikroscan. "Our leading-edge digital technology connects pathologists around the world and fosters improved patient care and business growth. Our fresh new look better communicates this commitment to Digital Pathology. Anytime, Anywhere."

Mikroscan Technology
Mikroscan is revolutionizing whole slide digital delivery, enabling pathologists to scan and instantly review high-resolution images from anywhere. The Mikroscan D2 is an agile, high-quality scanner with the smallest footprint on the market, yielding huge benefits for pathologists, physicians and patients alike. Clinicians and experts around the world can collaborate and hospitals can instantly connect with pathologists for real-time diagnostics and consultations. The entire process takes minutes, replacing the error-prone and lengthy process of waiting for slides to be mailed between labs and hospitals. Pathologists get the answers they need in seconds, which makes all the difference in patient care.
