MikroTik Adds 72-Core Cloud Core Router (CCR), Leveraging the Scalability of Tilera TILE-Gx Processors

TILE-Gx SoC Processor Family Now Powers a Complete Range of Routers for the Enterprise and Small-Medium Business Segments

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - May 20, 2014) - Tilera® Corporation, the leader in high-performance, power-efficient computing, and MikroTik, a global leader of IP network equipment and software, today announced the expansion of MikroTik's Cloud Core Router (CCR) family with new models featuring Tilera's TILE-Gx9, TILE-Gx16 and TILE-Gx72 manycore processors. These new networking routers expand upon the existing CCR line and target the enterprise and SMB market segments.

MikroTik is now deploying routers utilizing Tilera's entire line of TILE-Gx manycore processors including 9 cores, 16 cores, 36 cores and soon the 72-core CPU. The MikroTik router line takes full advantage of the embedded features of the TILE-Gx including on-chip 1G and 10G Ethernet ports, integrated crypto acceleration engines and other I/O such as USB and RS-232, enhancing system reliability while supporting a remarkably sophisticated feature set.

The CCR family is powered by RouterOS6, a fully featured routing operating system that has been industry hardened for the past 15 years. Dynamic routing, hotspot, firewall, MPLS, VPN, advanced quality of service, load balancing and bonding, real-time configuration and monitoring are just a few of the vast number of features supported by RouterOS software solution.

"We have a family of router platforms that are unified across the TILE-Gx line," said John Tully, CEO, MikroTik. "The CCR series offers the best performance and value by taking complete advantage of the rich system-on-a-chip capabilities of the TILE-Gx processors. Most importantly, our RouterOS software scales with the Tilera products, enabling us to rapidly develop and deliver superior performance to customers through our global network spanning 120+ countries."

The new products announced include 9-, 16- and 72-core routers with I/O options that leverage RouterOS and are in the same small 1U form factor ideal for wiring closets or enterprise rackmount applications.
