Mild Weather and Weak Canadian Dollar Prompts Spending Spree on Winter Vacations

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - December 24, 2015) - Unseasonably mild temperatures across most of the country, combined with uncertainty over the strength of the Canadian dollar, are prompting a last minute spending spree on winter vacations according to the tour operator, Sunwing Vacations.

With many people being forced to cancel ski vacations due to poor snow conditions, and others rethinking road trips south of the border due to the unfavourable exchange rate against the US dollar, the tour operator is predicting an increase in last minute enquiries.

President of Tour Operations for Sunwing Vacations, Andrew Dawson, commented, "One of the strong advantages of an all-inclusive vacation is that you pay the majority of your costs pre-travel in Canadian dollars so there are no worries about a fluctuating exchange rate that might make you go over budget. Given the poor snow conditions so far on the east coast for winter sports, and the weakness of the Canadian dollar, last minute bookings for the coming season are likely to be on the rise."

Launching Christmas Eve, Sunwing's biggest sale of the season is sure to come as good news for last minute vacation hunters. Running from December 24th to December 31st, 2015 savvy shoppers can snag hundreds of winter vacations at up to 50% off, plus enjoy instant savings of $200 per couple on all packages*.

A wide range of the tour operator's most popular resorts are included in the sale. Combining luxury amenities, evening entertainment and fine dining across nine different restaurants with complimentary children's and teens activities and a packed program of family-friendly activities, Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa caters to guests of all ages. Set on its own private beachfront, guests will also appreciate the water sports centre, expansive pool complex and children's splash pad.

Situated on the white sands of Lucayan beach, Memories Grand Bahama Beach Resort & Casino offers families and couples alike the perfect Bahamian beach haven. This expansive property also benefits from a varied program of evening entertainment, casino, wide choice of bars and restaurants together with a host of family-oriented amenities including complimentary kids and teens clubs, on-site splash park, large pool complex and plentiful water sports.

Enveloped by lush foliage descending to a pristine beachfront, guests at Memories Holguin Beach Resort can take advantage of seven distinct buffet and à la carte venues with a wide variety of local and international cuisine along with six bars (including a cigar bar serving the famed Cuban cigar) and on site disco.
