Milestone in the Paulaner Brauhaus, Beijing: the 5000th Batch to Be Brewed

What a special milestone: On June 20 the Paulaner Bräuhaus in Beijing will serve its 5000^th batch. When it opened in 1992, the Bavarian attitude to life and the best Paulaner beer -- brewed on site by a Paulaner master brewer -- arrived in the Chinese capital city. The brewing copper is now to be heated up for the 5000^th time, and a very special beer for a very special place will also be brewed for the 5000^th time. This milestone will be fittingly celebrated for a full month. 

"I actually tend not to take events like birthdays and anniversaries too seriously. In the case of our 5000^th batch, however, I am a bit awestruck," says Paulaner master brewer Wolfgang Sesser, who has been brewing at the Paulaner Bräuhaus in Beijing since 2011. The figures alone speak for themselves: 217 batches have been brewed each year since 1992, which equates to 1200 half-liters of beer per day. The recipe has been the same since the brewery was established 23 years ago and is very popular with guests. "I especially want to thank my predecessors for this. They made the Paulaner Bräuhaus what it is today thanks to their mastery of the art of brewing," says Sesser.

June 13: opening event for the month of celebrations

The Paulaner Bräuhaus in Beijing is celebrating its 5000^th batch for one month from June 13 to July 12. In addition to a small exhibition on the history of the Bräuhaus, there will be special beer menus and beer dinners. The opening event of the month was the celebration of the 5000^th batch on June 13. After a brewery tour, the milestone batch was served with a formal ceremony.
