Military Parachutists in Training at Sainte-Catherine and Fossambault


VALCARTIER, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - April 26, 2016) -

Residents of Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier and Fossambault-sur-le-Lac, as well as people passing through the area, may see military parachutists participating in an exercise on April 27, 2016. More than 100 soldiers from Valcartier, mainly from 3 Battalion, Royal 22e Régiment, will take part in the training exercise.

Jumps will be made from a CC130J Hercules aircrafts using static-line parachutes between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The military parachutists should be landing near the intersection of St-Denys-Garneau Street and Taché Road in Sainte-Catherine-de-la-Jacques-Cartier.

It should be noted that this military parachute training could be rescheduled or cancelled without prior notice should weather conditions preclude its safe execution.

The exercise is aimed at giving parachutists from 3 Battalion and flight personnel from 426 Transport Training Squadron (Trenton, Ont.) an opportunity to maintain their qualifications, in accordance with applicable regulations.
