Miller & Smith Employees "Give Back" to Their Community During Companywide Volunteer Day

MCLEAN, VA--(Marketwire - Jul 13, 2011) - Miller & Smith, an award-winning homebuilder and real estate development company, is proud to announce that more than 100 of its employees are scheduled to donate their time on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 for an all-day workday to benefit Transitional Housing BARN, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides housing, supportive services, life management skills and financial education for homeless women and their dependent children.

"Building homes and communities is the cornerstone of our business. We are excited to come together as an organization to support the efforts of BARN in building the groundwork for positive change in individuals' lives through transitional housing and education," said Dale Hall, Vice President of Operations, Miller and Smith. The "Miller & Smith Gives Back Workday" will include building a new deck, installing new landscaping and assembling playground equipment. According to Hall, "This opportunity came to us through our association with HomeAid Northern Virginia, the charitable arm of our building association. Miller & Smith has also been involved in helping Northern Virginia Family Services at their Manassas facility."

Founded in 1996 by the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia, Transitional Housing BARN Inc. opened its doors to the homeless women and children of Prince William County, Virginia the spring of 1997. Since this time the organization has helped hundreds of families successfully meet their plan objectives and move into and sustain permanent housing.
