MINI Canada today announced the sale of the 10,000th MINI in Canada. On March 22, 2002, a lone MINI Cooper set out to conquer the Canadian elements and transform Canadians perceptions of small cars. Three years and six months later, Mr. Stephane Charbonneau of Montreal took delivery of his Dark Silver MINI Cooper S at MINI Laval and became the 10,000th MINI owner in Canada.

MINI has changed over the past three years - new headlights, transmissions, we've even removed a roof or two. What hasn't changed with MINI is the adrenaline rush that each of the 10,000 Canadian MINI drivers experience each time they get behind the wheel of their MINI.

"MINI Canada is thrilled to be celebrating this great MINI milestone," said Rob Van Shaik, National Manager, MINI Canada. "It is thanks to the premium product offerings, strong MINI retail network and passionate MINI drivers that MINI has been such an outstanding success in Canada and has become it's own cultural icon."

To help celebrate this milestone, MINI Canada will send Mr. Charbonneau and a guest to Misano, Italy to participate in this year's MINI United, an international MINI owner's festival. MINI Canada will fly Mr. Charbonneau and his guest to Italy and provide them with entrance to MINI United, four nights hotel accommodations at Hotel Lungomare and 500 Euros of spending money.

At MINI United, Mr. Charbonneau and his guest will see top drivers from national MINI Clubsport series from Europe, America, Asia and Australia go wheel to wheel in the first ever MINI Challenge World Finals. Mr. Charbonneau and his guest will have the opportunity to experience a variety of driving attractions on and off the race track, including special MINI Driver Training sessions and the chance to go for a spin with the professionals.

Other highlights of MINI United include live music, film screenings, dance shows, helicopter rides and MINI stunt driving. For more information, visit the MINI United website at www.MINI.ca.

Since its launch into the Canadian automotive market, MINI has been highly acclaimed, receiving numerous awards, including being named the '2003 North American Car of the Year'. MINI has also seen some transformations during its time in Canada. In March 2002, the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S were launched in Canada. One year latter, the John Cooper Works package was offered and two years later, the MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S Convertibles hit Canadian soil.

In early 2005, MINI Canada announced that a Limited Slip Differential (LSD) and automatic transmission were available as options on all Cooper S and Cooper S Convertibles. In August 2005, MINI Canada enhanced its 2006 model line up with new packages and optional features, including most notably a new factory-installed John Cooper Works package and new "Checkmate" and "Quicksilver" packages.

The 2006 MINI Cooper Classic is priced at $23,500, while the MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S and the MINI Cooper Convertible and MINI Cooper S Convertible are priced at $25,900, $30,600, $31,600 and $36,600 respectively.
