Mining Association of British Columbia Welcomes New Member: Silvercorp Metals Inc.

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 22, 2007) - Mining Association of British Columbia (MABC) President & CEO, Michael McPhie welcomes Silvercorp Metals Inc. as a new member.

"This is an exciting time to be in mining, but it is also a time of both challenges and opportunities for the industry. We welcome Silvercorp joining us to ensure that industry speaks with a strong common voice as we move to build a vibrant and sustainable mining industry in our province," said McPhie.

Silvercorp Metals Inc. is a public company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, and mining of mineral properties in China.

Silvercorp's primary project is the Ying Silver-Lead-Zinc Project located in the Luoning area of western Henan Province of central China. Silvercorp is also involved with the Tuobuka Gold Project. In 2006, the company signed a contract to acquire a 60% interest of the HPG silver-gold-lead operating mine and property. Silvercorp also owns the NZ Gold-Silver project located in Nanzhao County.

Established through an act of the BC Legislature in 1901 to represent the interests of BC's mining industry, the MABC is one of the oldest industry associations in the province. The MABC represents the needs and interests of coal, metal and industrial mineral mining companies with operating or business interests in BC, supply and professional service organizations and institutions with an interest in the mining industry.
