Mining Suppliers Donate $25,000 to BC Children's Hospital

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - May 12, 2011) - The Mining Suppliers Association of British Columbia (MSABC) has donated $25,000 to the BC Children's Hospital as part of the 2011 Mining for Miracles fundraising campaign. "In addition to the thousands of dollars donated by our individual member companies and their employees, our Association was pleased to contribute $25,000 to this year's campaign through Teck's Celebrity Pie Throw," said Patty Moore, Chair of MSABC.

MSABC donated to the Pie Throw campaign of Mining for Miracles Chairman Colin Joudrie, who was pied on Thursday after raising $268,900. Joudrie's campaign also benefited from Teck Resources, which provided half of his total after generously agreeing to match donations for his pie. "In addition to supporting the Children's Hospital, we also wanted to recognize the outstanding work Colin has done as Chairman of Mining for Miracles," added Moore.

Since 1998, MSABC has donated close to $200,000 to the BC Children's Hospital through the Mining for Miracles campaign. The funds raised this year will be used to help complete a world class simulation lab training centre at BC Children's Hospital. Surgeons, nurses, care givers and health care professionals from across BC will train in this facility to provide the children of BC the best care possible.

The Mining Suppliers Association of B.C. comprises suppliers, contractors and consultants to the BC mining industry who are committed to promoting the sustainability of this valuable resource sector.
