Minister Ambrose Responds to Information Commissioner's Report

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - March 14, 2011) - The Honourable Rona Ambrose, Minister of Public Works and Government Services and Minister for Status of Women issued the following statement following an investigation by the Information Commissioner:

"I received the Information Commissioner's report in February and I directed the Department of Public Works and Government Services to fully implement the recommendations.

This is consistent with our government's commitment to openness, transparency and accountability.

Let me be clear, no current member of this government is involved in this case. Our government expects all public servants and political aides to abide by the Access to Information Act (ATI). My direction to implement the Commissioner's recommendations will help ensure that this is the case going forward.

The Department of Public Works and Government Services is fully committed to meeting its obligations to respect and comply with the Act."
