Minister Ashfield Lends His Support to Nova Scotia Exhibitors at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo

Minister Ashfield lent his support to Nova Scotia exhibitors at the China Fisheries and Seafood Expo yesterday, where he met with many potential buyers and sellers at what is the largest trade show of its kind in Asia.

Exports of fish and seafood from Nova Scotia were valued at approximately $794 million in 2010, of which approximately $126 million went to Asia (consisting mainly of lobster, shrimp/prawn, snow crab, herring, and Atlantic bluefin tuna). China and Japan remained important markets for exports from the province, with values of $21 million and $35 million respectively in 2010.
