Minister Blackburn Honours Canadian Workers on International Workers' Day

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 1, 2008) - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Labour and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today recognized Canadian workers for their key role in giving Canada the foundation to be a global success as part of International Worker's Day.

"International Workers' Day is the perfect occasion to recognize workers' remarkable contribution to making Canada one of the best countries in the world in which to live," said Minister Blackburn. "Canadians work hard for their pay cheques and today provides us with an opportunity to say thank you for a job well done."

International Workers' Day, which is celebrated on May 1st, marks workers' efforts and achievements.

The objective of the Labour Program is to promote fair, safe and productive workplaces and cooperative workplace relations. Through its programs and services, the Labour Program assists workers and employers, and supports, innovative flexible workplaces.
