Minister Blackburn Marks Veterans' Week 2010 at the Camp Hill Candlelight Ceremony

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwire - Nov. 8, 2010) - Today, the Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture) and the residents of Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building in Halifax remembered our Veterans with a candlelight ceremony in Halifax.

"Our men and women in uniform have always watched over Canada. We must always, especially during Veteran's Week, pay tribute to them for their achievements, their sacrifices, their courage and their bravery. Our government embraces its duty to support our Veterans by encouraging Canadians to remember. We are also determined to support them throughout their military career, and at every stage of their lives," said Minister Blackburn.

Now Canadians across the country are showing how they remember and honour our Veterans during Veterans' Week 2010, from November 5 to 11.

The largest and most recognized Veterans' facility in Atlantic Canada, the Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building has been providing care and services to Canada's war Veterans since 1917. The facility is managed by the Capital District Health Authority and provides a full spectrum of care including long-term and palliative care, occupational therapy programs, pastoral care, psychology and recreation programs.

This year during Veterans' Week, make remembrance more than something you feel, make it something you do. Show how you remember by attending a Remembrance Day ceremony, visiting the local cenotaph or monument, sharing your thoughts of remembrance online, or wearing a poppy with pride.
