Minister Clement Applauds Canadian-Made Deal On Military Contract

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 22, 2009) - The Honourable Tony Clement, Minister of Industry, today attended a signing ceremony at Atlantis Systems Corp. CAE and Atlantis will be working together on the Operational Training Systems Provider (OTSP), a contract for aircrew training that the Government of Canada recently awarded to CAE.

"The signing of this agreement speaks to the innovation and skill of Canada's aerospace sector," said Minister Clement. "I am very pleased that this important partnership will provide real economic and social benefits to Canada for years to come."

Last February, Prime Minister Harper announced that the Government of Canada was partnering with CAE, the Canadian-based world leader in flight simulation technology, to establish a world-class aircrew training capability for Canada's fleet of C-130J Hercules aircraft. The announced contract was valued at approximately $329.5 million.

As a part of their requirements under the Industrial and Regional Benefits policy, CAE will generate one dollar of economic activity in Canada for every dollar it receives from the contract, with the majority of benefits flowing directly to the Canadian Aerospace and Defence sector. Atlantis Systems Corp. is one member of a group of "Team Canada" members that will be undertaking subcontracting work as a part of the overall OTSP contract.
