Minister Clement Discusses the Importance of Job Creation With the Toronto Business Community

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 26, 2012) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, today delivered a speech to business leaders at the Empire Club in Toronto on how Canada's path to prosperity will draw on the historic values of the country.

"We believe the ingenuity, the creativity and the aspirations of Canadians have always been the driving force behind this nation's prosperity," said Minister Clement. "We understand that the role of Government is to create the conditions where Canadians can succeed, and this Government will continue to give Canadians the tools they need to achieve that success, and create jobs and growth for Canada."

Minister Clement noted that that through Canada's Economic Action Plan,
almost 600,000 more Canadians are working today than when the recession ended, resulting in the strongest rate of employment growth during the recovery by far among G-7 countries.

"The Government is putting its finances on a sustainable footing by achieving ongoing savings," said Minister Clement. "An important part of this is modernizing how we deliver programs and services."
