Minister Clement Discusses the Government's Efforts to Cut Red Tape during Tweet Chat

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 29, 2012) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, today hosted an online conversation with Canadians and businesses to discuss how the Government of Canada's recently unveiled Red Tape Reduction Action Plan will help businesses save time and money dealing with government regulators.

"I welcomed the input from Canadians on how our Government can reduce unnecessary duplication and paperwork so businesses have more time to do what they do best: innovate, invest and create jobs," said Minister Clement. "Reducing red tape is one of the most important things a government can do to support business growth, and our Government takes that job seriously."

Minister Clement hosted two tweet chats on the Red Tape Reduction Action Plan. One was held in French and the other in English. The discussion will be made available on the Red Tape Reduction Action Plan website.

The Red Tape Reduction Action Plan introduced important reforms that will cut red tape to make it easier to do business with regulators, and improve service and predictability. The changes include 90 department-specific reforms-common sense solutions to business irritants in areas ranging from tax and payroll to labour, licences and permits, transport and cross-border trade. The vast majority of these reforms will be implemented over the next three years.
