Minister Clement in Toronto to Explain How Government Initiatives Are Creating Jobs

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 1, 2012) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, explained how government initiatives are creating jobs, growth and red tape reduction, during an address to the Economic Club in Toronto.

"Through our Government's efforts to reduce overall spending, we are refocusing government programs, making it easier for Canadians to deal with the government, and modernizing our back-office operations while leveraging investment, entrepreneurship and hard work," said Minister Clement.

The Economic Action Plan, introduced by the Government, has already helped Canada respond to the global recession and led to the recovery of more than all of the output and jobs lost during the recession. It is also providing significant and far-reaching opportunities to Canadians and our nation's economy.

"By focusing on the drivers of growth and job creation-innovation, investment, education, skills and communities-the new measures in Economic Action Plan 2012 will solidify, strengthen and draw upon the business sector's and entrepreneurs' role as a driving force behind Canada's economy," added Minister Clement.
