Minister Clement Promotes Use of Social Media to Engage With Canadians

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 17, 2012) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, today spoke at Thornley Fallis' Third Tuesday Series to discuss the use of social media by the Government to modernize the way it communicates with Canadians.

"We recognize social media as a powerful way to engage in meaningful dialogue, and bring about better, more responsive government for our citizens," said Minister Clement. "These new platforms have created the opportunity for public servants to truly engage citizens where they live, work and play with more immediacy."

"These tools and technologies give us an additional means of interactive communications between our institutions and Canadians," added the Minister. "If the Government is to continuously innovate, it needs to be a modern, well-equipped workplace that can attract and retain innovative, creative employees."
