Minister Clement Visits New Zealand Through Fellowship Program

Today, the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board, concluded a trip to New Zealand as part of a bilateral fellowship program agreed to between Prime Minister Stephen Harper and New Zealand Prime Minister John Key.
The five-day visit included a meeting with Prime Minister Key.

Minister Clement met with other high-level New Zealand officials to discuss topics such as the modernization of the public service, red tape reduction and innovative uses of information technology and open data.

The tour also provided an opportunity to connect with the business community through the Canada New Zealand Business Association.

  • The New Zealand Prime Minister's Fellows program was created to make long-term investments in New Zealand's bilateral relationships by inviting senior individuals to New Zealand for a week-long visit. Participating countries include China, Japan, Korea, countries from Latin America and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region, India, Samoa, Tonga, and as of April 2010, Canada.
  • The Canada New Zealand Business Association (CANZBA) serves Canadian business in New Zealand by helping its members develop business opportunities, make contacts and share information.
