Minister Congratulates Winners of the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Awards

Statement by the Honourable James Moore Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2008) - I am pleased to congratulate the recipients of the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Awards, which recognize outstanding, mid-career Canadian artists in the seven disciplines funded by the Canada Council for the Arts-dance, integrated arts, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts, and writing and publishing.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate this year's award recipients, as well as all the artists who push the limits of their discipline by giving the best of themselves. I would also like to thank these artists for their exceptional contribution to the vitality of Canada's arts sector.
