Minister Day Condemns Actions at a Montreal Community Centre

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - April 4, 2007) - The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, issued this statement following reports that Montreal police are investigating a small bomb that exploded in front of the Ben Weider Jewish Community Centre on Tuesday night.

"I am appalled to hear of this incident and condemn any of those responsible for it.

While such an act takes place at a holy time for both Jews and Christians, it represents an affront to the value that all Canadians place in their safety.

We must not tolerate actions that threaten our communities and I commend local authorities for efforts they are making to find those responsible.

Canadians can be assured that Canada's New Government takes all such acts seriously and will take all measures to ensure the security of its citizens."
