Minister Finley Appoints New Commissioner to the Canada Employment Insurance Commission

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Dec. 16, 2010) - The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, today announced the appointment of Ms. Judith Andrew to the Canada Employment Insurance Commission as the Commissioner for Employers.

Ms. Andrew is currently Vice-President of Legislative Affairs at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), where she leads the CFIB's urban work, coordinates regional legislative projects, and serves as legislative liaison to the Federation's public affairs department. Ms. Andrew also serves as a member of the Ontario Manufacturing Council and the Learning Partnership Policy Advisory Committee. Prior to joining the CFIB, Ms. Andrew worked in the financial services sector. Ms. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (University of Toronto) and a Master of Business Administration degree (York University /exchange Laval University).

The Canada Employment Insurance Commission is a tripartite organization with representation from business, labour and the Government of Canada. It has a series of responsibilities pertaining to the delivery and administration of the Employment Insurance program. The Commissioner for Employers is appointed by the Governor in Council following consultations with representative organizations to ensure that the views of employers are reflected in the work of the Commission.
