Minister Joly Salutes Canadians Nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 15, 2016) - I would like to congratulate all the Canadians who have been nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award. The Government of Canada is very proud of the artists and works representing us at this prestigious music industry award ceremony. I applaud the Canadian craftspeople and creators whose genius and passion make their love of music contagious. Their talent and success raise the profile of our culture across Canada and around the world.

Canada's music industry contributes to the growth of our culture and is an important sector of our economy. Every year, it generates close to $3 billion in economic activity through sound recording, performances, commercial radio broadcasts and singer-songwriter royalties. One of the ways our government supports this sector is through the Canada Music Fund, which gives Canadians and the rest of the world better access to Canadian music. Each year, on average, the Fund supports more than 400 album production projects and 1,100 marketing, touring and showcasing initiatives.

As Minister of Canadian Heritage, and on behalf of all Canadians, I wish the best of luck to all our representatives. We are proud of you, your efforts, your achievements and what you mean to Canada.
