Minister Kenney Announces New Citizenship Judge Appointment

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 12, 2010) - Marc Nadeau has been appointed Citizenship Judge in Montreal, for a three-year part-time term, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

Prior to his appointment, Judge Nadeau was a contributor to news programming at radio stations in Sherbrooke, Montreal, and Quebec City. He has worked as a researcher, analyst, and speechwriter in both the public and private sectors, has researched two biographies, and acted as an elections observer.

He holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History from the Universite de Sherbrooke, where he is also a PhD candidate in Theology.

Citizenship judges are responsible for making decisions with regard to citizenship applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens.
