Minister Moore Congratulates Winners of the 2009 Trille Or Awards

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 19, 2009) - Music and song highlight our language and culture. This is especially true in Franco-Ontarian communities, where the Francophone arts scene plays an important role in the community's cultural vitality and economic development.

The Trille Or awards demonstrate the dynamism of today's Franco-Ontarian music industry by paying tribute to the best it has to offer. In addition to their creativity and talent, this year's award recipients are distinguished by their passion for music and the French language.

A special tribute award was also presented to Marcel Aymar. This multi-talented artist combines experience and originality to compose and perform works in concert and in recordings, as well as in plays, films, and television productions. He also lends his talents to help produce albums by other Franco-Ontarian artists.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate all the nominees and winners of this year's Trille Or awards, who have helped make Ontario's Francophone arts scene even more dynamic. I would also like to commend the Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique and its partners. By holding this special evening, you are ensuring that French-speaking artists in Ontario and Canada can reach wider audiences.
