Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty to Keynote First Annual MIN Manufacturing Summit

Ontario's Manufacturing Leaders Gather in Kitchener to Take a Critical Look at Challenges and Opportunities Facing the Industry

KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 29, 2012) - The Manufacturing Innovation Network, along with sponsoring partners Cowan Insurance, Gowlings, KPMG and TD Bank, and community partners is pleased to announce its first annual MIN Manufacturing Summit. The half-day event, scheduled to take place on May 1, 2102 is expected to attract up to 1,000 leaders from Ontario's manufacturing sector. The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance will deliver the keynote address.

Ontario's manufacturing sector is in the midst of significant transformation, as industry leaders retool, reinvent, and rethink their businesses for maximum competitiveness, performance and growth. Never have the challenges been more significant, nor the opportunities more numerous for Ontario manufacturers. The 2012 MIN Manufacturing Summit will take a critical look at these challenges and opportunities, exploring such topics as manufacturing process improvement, supply chain management, foreign market expansion, surviving and thriving in competitive climates, access to government funding, and the high unemployment versus labour shortage paradox.

The half day event, which will kick off with a luncheon address by Minister Flaherty, will offer five breakout panels featuring an array of industry thought leaders, followed by a plenary session moderated by Terry Reidel, Executive Director, The Cowan Foundation and featuring Brian Krinock, President, Toyota Automotive Manufacturing, Jim Jarrell, President and COO, Linamar Corporation, Gerry Remers, President and COO, Christie Digital Systems Canada and Ginny Dybenko, Executive Director, Stratford Campus, University of Waterloo. The day concludes with a cocktail and networking reception.

The 2012 MIN Manufacturing Summit is supported by a broad network of community partners, including: Canada's Technology Triangle (CTT), the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.
