Minister of State Goodyear Addresses First Responder Vendor Forum


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2012) - The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Minister of State (Science and Technology), today addressed delegates at the First Responder Vendor Outreach Forum hosted by the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance, the country's largest high-tech business association.

Minister of State Goodyear underlined the Harper Government's efforts to support research and innovation, highlighting key initiatives from Economic Action Plan 2012.

"Our government is ensuring Canada is a world leader in research and innovation across an impressive range of sectors, including information and communication technologies," said the Minister of State. "Canada's long-term economic competitiveness depends on business-related research and development that drives innovation."

The forum brought together representatives from information and communication technology (ICT) companies and the country's first responders and public safety and security community.

They discussed product planning, ICT opportunities and the future direction of industry research and development efforts.
