Minister of Veterans Affairs Honours Citizens of Quebec

ST. LAURENT, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 18, 2011) - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture), honoured 14 citizens from Quebec for their commitment and dedication to Veterans. The Minister presented them with the Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation during a ceremony in Saint-Laurent.

"While many might be quick to speak about the importance of volunteerism, the individuals being commended today have made it their reality," said Minister Blackburn. "Every action performed by these extraordinary individuals—however big or small—has improved the lives of those in the Veteran community."

Minister Blackburn presented the Commendation to the following individuals:

The Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation consists of a bar, which can be worn below official decorations on a blazer, a lapel pin for civilian wear and a certificate.

It is presented to individuals who have contributed to the care and well-being of Veterans and to the remembrance of their contributions, sacrifices and achievements. It is intended primarily for Veterans, but in some circumstances may also be awarded to non-Veterans. Nominations may be submitted by the public at any time and are reviewed annually by an advisory committee.
