Minister Paradis Addresses Economic Development and Job Creation at Federation des chambres de commerce du Quebec's Annual Conference

VICTORIAVILLE, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 30, 2011) - Today, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, emphasized sustainable economic development and job creation as top government priorities during his address at the annual conference of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec (FCCQ).

"Our government recognizes the important contributions being made by the more than 60,000 businesses and 150,000 business people represented by the FCCQ," said Minister Paradis. "Canadians have given our government a strong mandate to stay focused on what matters: creating jobs and economic growth. Rest assured, we are squarely focused on creating the right conditions for businesses to innovate and create jobs."

In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the importance of private sector investment in innovation and research and development to advance Canada's economy. In addition, he referenced the Government's latest business-focused measures, such as the Red Tape Reduction Commission.

"It is clear that, for many companies, the path to success in innovation and new markets will be fuelled by the adoption of information and communications technologies. Business leaders in communities across the province must lead innovation to achieve sustainable economic prosperity," said Minister Paradis.

The Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, with a network of over 150 chambers of commerce, represents all sectors of the economy throughout Quebec.
