Minister Paradis Encourages Quebec Business Leaders to Invest in Innovation

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwire - April 23, 2012) - Today, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, emphasized jobs, growth and long-term prosperity as key government priorities during his address at the annual general meeting of the members of the Conseil du patronat du Québec.

"In our government's Economic Action Plan 2012, we presented a comprehensive and forward-looking agenda that will deliver high-quality jobs, boost economic growth and ensure sound public finances," said Minister Paradis. "The fact that since July 2009 our economy has created more than 690,000 jobs is a clear demonstration that our plan is succeeding and our economy is on the right track."

In his remarks, the Minister highlighted the important role that private sector investment in innovation will play in creating economic growth and long-term prosperity for the next generation.

"Our government has been successful in fostering the creation of jobs and growth, but now our goal must be to ensure this prosperity over the long-term," said Minister Paradis. "As we move into sustained economic recovery, it is time for businesses - driven by groups like the Conseil du patronat du Québec - to take a leadership role."

The Conseil du patronat du Québec includes many of the province's largest companies as well as the vast majority of sector-based employers' associations, making it the sole employers' confederation in the province.
