Minister Raitt Applauds new Agreement Between Air Transat and Air Line Pilots Association

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 5, 2010) - Today, the Honourable Lisa Raitt, Canada's Minister of Labour, congratulated Air Transat and the Air Line Pilots Association for successfully reaching a new labour agreement that will ensure continued service to air travellers.

"I commend Air Transat and the Air Line Pilots Association for reaching a negotiated agreement without interruption to services," said Minister Raitt. "Strong labour-management relations benefit our country's economic prosperity and the economic security of Canadians."

The collective agreement, covering a unit of 325 airline pilots, expired on April 30, 2010. The dispute was settled with the assistance of a conciliation commissioner appointed by the Minister of Labour. The parties will now be able to move forward and, by working together, create a constructive labour relations environment within Air Transat.
